Welcome to the E3 Alliance Clinician Survey

The E3 Alliance is a community of clinical and research professionals dedicated to advancing culturally responsive and psychologically grounded approaches for clinicians supporting clients with complex or non-ordinary experiences in clinical practice, including those related to spirituality, psychedelic use, and anomalous or exceptional experiences. Our focus is strengthening professional competence, reducing stigma, and expanding informed clinical engagement in this evolving area of practice.

Defining the Scope of This Survey
This survey assesses clinicians’ training needs, educational priorities, and practice considerations related to supporting clients who report effects or aftereffects of experiences arising through three pathways:

Psychedelic-Related
Associated with the use of psychedelic substances, plant medicines, entactogens, or other psychoactive compounds.

Spiritual, Religious, or Cultural Practice-Related
Associated with intentional practices designed to alter or expand consciousness, such as meditation, prayer, breathwork, ritual, yoga, fasting, cultural, spiritual/religious, or energy-based practices.

Anomalous or Exceptional Experiences (practice-based or non-induced)
Experiences that may occur in connection with intentional practices (e.g., channeling, remote viewing, cultivated psi abilities), during significant life events or medical contexts, or without a clear precipitating factor (e.g., NDE, OBE, entity contact, time anomalies, memory phenomena).

For the purposes of this survey, “Non-Ordinary States or Anomalous/Exceptional Experiences” is used as an umbrella term referring to experiences and their effects or aftereffects arising through one or more of the three pathways.

This survey focuses on how the effects of these experiences present in clinical treatment, including integration needs, distress, functional impact, interpretive frameworks, and clinical considerations, rather than on the ontological nature or ultimate explanation of the experiences themselves.
